The Board Nominates Bindu O. Fernandes as Zharity President.

The vote will be held at our General Assembly in January.

A little background:

How did you get involved with Zharity?

I discovered Zharity through a community outreach event while actively searching for local and long term volunteering opportunities. I was very excited to learn that Zharity was a conduit and facilitator for a variety of local non profits including refugee organisations, women's safe houses, animal shelters, homeless associations, youth focused organisations and more. 

Having led and volunteered in various non profit organisations for over two decades, I understand the significance and importance of Zharity in sustainably managing the logistics of acquisition and distribution of items for people in need, and providing meaningful ways for the community and corporations to contribute and make lasting change. 

What projects are you currently working on?

Currently, my emphasis is on Corporate Engagement and Organizational Sustainability. Having worked in corporate during the earlier part of my career, I am invested in identifying and maintaining meaningful corporate social responsibility and employee engagement. My focus on organizational sustainability is multi-pronged with an emphasis on long term volunteer leads for our various focus areas, financial sustainability and growth, and broader and deeper impact for our local community.

I actively participate in all Zharity activities, either as a project lead or a participant. I am supporting the communications, annual report, website and social media strategy. I have also been supporting the collection and redistribution efforts at our Zharity unit and as a fill-in volunteer for drop-off donations in my local area. I have also led some corporate talks and corporate fundraising campaigns to raise awareness and funds for our organization.

What additional information would you like to share?

I am so proud to experience Zharity's intentionality, impact and adaptability under Alicia's leadership, and it is an honor to lead the vision and mission of Zharity hand in hand with our stellar team of volunteers and partners. I am committed to listening deeply to the needs of our community, our stakeholders and our teams and continue to make meaningful impact together.
