World Cleanup Day
One day. One planet. One goal. Millions of people in 150 countries united to clean up our world, in the biggest civic action in human history.
On the 15th September, volunteers and partners worldwide came together to rid our planet of trash – cleaning up litter and mismanaged waste from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets.
A powerful ‘green wave’ of cleanups started in New Zealand and ended 36 hours later in Hawaii, with millions of people working towards one goal: a clean and healthy planet. Check out the amazing results @ worldcleanupday.org
In the month of June Zharity Earth hosted 4 plogging events in and around Zürich. On World Clean-up day we went back to all of these locations to see if our efforts were long lasting or not. In June, on average, we filled three 35 liter garbage bags to the brim everywhere we went in just two hours. This time with over 20 volunteers we collected approximately half a sack less at each location. This is a good time to remember that a small change is still change. And with all the new friendships we made that day, there’s yet hope for the human race!
