Celiac Disease Fundraising Event (Ongoing)

Collections.png

Zharity is partnering with Justyna Sidorska to fundraise for research on celiac disease, a devastating, incurable illness that affects many families. We're supporting this important cause because Justyna's baby, Urs has celiac disease. Gluten in wheat, barley, and rye makes his body damage itself, in particular the small intestine. Urs cannot always play with other kids because it only takes a crumb of his playmate's cracker to harm his health. Even naturally gluten-free grains like millet can be dangerous to Urs as they are often covered with sticky, invisible gluten dust from the production site. Urs does not reliably show symptoms after he has ingested gluten so to keep safe he must resort to certified gluten-free products or foods that are otherwise protected from gluten contamination such as nuts in a shell. The really bad thing about celiac disease though, is that unlike gluten sensitivity, its root lies in autoimmunity. This puts Urs at a higher risk of further, much worse autoimmune disorders.

Dr. Alessio Fasano, based at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, has developed a drug that shows promising results for fighting celiac disease. In honor of Urs, Justyna has started a fundraising campaign to support Dr. Fasano's work. All donations are spent 100% on RESEARCH (not treatment of Urs or anybody else). The money goes to the Massachusetts General Hospital's account (a renowned, trustworthy institution).

We welcome you to join Zharity in supporting this important cause! Justyna is also selling an incredible collection of books to support her fundraising efforts. Feel free to get in touch with her to buy a book. Titles are below.

Many, many thanks for your consideration of support! We'll keep you posted on this fundraising effort!

All the best, Amanda, on behalf of Justyna and Zharity
